Perception

The process by which the brain interprets raw sensory data and builds a mental representation of what produced it.

• Ex: Light, heat, and aroma arriving separately from a plate of food are experienced as one meal.
• Ex: Two fans watching the same replay see a foul and a clean play.
• Ex: A song’s lyrics sound different after someone says what the words are.
