Object Recognition

The process by which an incoming pattern is matched to something already stored, so it is identified as a particular kind of thing.

  • Ex: Identifying a chair as a chair from an angle never seen before.
  • Ex: Recognizing a cousin’s face in a crowd before being able to say what was recognized.
  • Ex: Reading a word written in unfamiliar handwriting.
